How to earn money from Facebook Reels? Join Facebook Content Monetization, Meta’s single program that pays for Reels, photos, text posts and Stories. As of November 2026, Meta describes it as invite-only: you cannot apply, but you can send an interest form and wait for an invitation.
There is no public follower minimum for this program, and Meta does not pay a fixed rate per 1,000 views. Payouts depend on how your content performs, with more weight on original content, longer watch time and qualified views.
While you wait for an invite, you can still earn from Facebook Stars, brand deals and affiliate links. This guide covers what Meta actually says, which popular claims are out of date, and what Indian creators can realistically expect.
What is Facebook Content Monetization?
Facebook Content Monetization is Meta’s unified program for earning money from what you post on Facebook. Before it, creators had to qualify separately for In-stream Ads, Ads on Reels and the Performance Bonus. Now one enrollment covers every eligible format.
The program pays for Reels, photos, text posts and Stories. Reels matter most: 60% of Facebook’s creator payouts in 2025 went to Reels, and the rest went to Stories, photos and text posts. Meta says it paid creators nearly $3 billion that year, 35% more than in 2024.
Many older Hindi and English guides still describe the Reels Play Bonus, with rules like “100,000 views in 30 days”. SocialBee notes that Meta ended that bonus in 2023, so any guide built on it is out of date.
Facebook Reels monetization requirements in 2026
Meta’s Content Monetization page publishes no follower or watch-time minimum. It says the program is invite-only and that invitations go out periodically to eligible creators.
What you can control:
- Post from a Facebook Page or a profile in professional mode.
- Be at least 18 and follow Meta’s monetization policies.
- Post original, public content (see the originality rules below) and use only music you have the rights to.
- Check your own status. On a computer, open Meta Business Suite, go to Monetization and click View Page eligibility. On mobile, open your dashboard and tap Monetization.
- Check availability in your country there too. Meta does not publish a simple country list for this program.
You will see other numbers online. None of them appears on Meta’s program page:
| Claim you will see | Where | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 5,000 followers and 60,000 minutes viewed | FluxNote requirements guide | Unsourced, and it conflicts with other guides |
| 10,000 followers and 600,000 minutes viewed | FluxNote India guide | Matches the older in-stream ads rules, not the current program |
| 100,000 views in 30 days | EarnKaro | Belongs to the Reels Play Bonus, which has ended |
How to get monetized on Facebook, step by step

- Set up the right account. Use a Facebook Page or switch your profile to professional mode. Meta has renamed the dashboard, so you may see it called Creator Dashboard or Business Dashboard.
- Post original Reels, publicly and regularly. Meta weighs original content, watch time and engagement. It does not list an official posting quota, so aim for a steady schedule you can keep up.
- Send the interest form. In the Facebook mobile app, open your dashboard, tap Monetization, then Content Monetization, and complete the form. Treat it as raising your hand, not as an application with a guaranteed result.
- Wait for the invite in official places only. Meta says invitations arrive through the Facebook app, email, Meta Business Suite or your dashboard. Anyone who offers to get you in for a fee, by DM or through a freelance gig, is selling something Meta does not sell.
- Once you are in, open the earnings insights. Meta added three metrics in March 2026: Qualified Views (views that may earn), Earnings Rate (approximate earnings per 1,000 qualified views) and Non-Qualified Views (why other views did not count).
While you wait for an invite
- Facebook Stars: Viewers send you Stars during eligible content. Stars has its own eligibility rules, so check your dashboard to see whether it is available to you.
- Creator Fast Track: For established creators only. Meta pays $1,000 a month for three months to creators with at least 100,000 followers on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, and $3,000 a month above one million, plus immediate access to Content Monetization. Check the program page for country eligibility.
- Brand deals: You must disclose paid partnerships on Facebook.
- Affiliate links: Use them only where the product’s own program allows it.
How much does Facebook pay for Reels in India?
Meta publishes no per-1,000-views rate, and third-party estimates for India do not agree, so the only number worth planning around is your own Earnings Rate.
| Source | Estimate for India or similar markets | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Lilach Bullock | $0.05 to $0.80 per 1,000 monetised views | Rough ranges from client accounts and reported creator figures |
| FluxNote | ₹0.50 to ₹3 per 1,000 views | No sources given |
Treat both as unofficial. The gap between them is the point: nobody outside Meta can give you a reliable India rate.
Two reels from the same Facebook page show why views alone mislead. One reel reached 3.4 million views, mostly from India and Indonesia, and paid $61, about $0.018 per 1,000 views. Another reel reached 94,000 views, almost all from the UK and US with much longer watch time, and paid $73, about $0.78 per 1,000 views (Lilach Bullock’s client example).
Three things move your number:
- Qualified views. Only views that may earn money count, not total views.
- Where viewers live. Advertisers pay more for some countries than others.
- Watch time. Reels that people watch for longer earn more per view.
Once you are in the program, estimate earnings like this: Earnings Rate × (qualified views ÷ 1,000). Check your own numbers for a few weeks before you plan expenses around them.
Mistakes that can cost you Facebook monetization
The biggest risk for creators who repost trending clips is originality. Meta’s March 2026 guidelines treat duplicate or lightly edited content as unoriginal.
| What you post | How Meta treats it |
|---|---|
| A reel you filmed or produced yourself | Original |
| A remix or overlay of someone else’s clip where you add something genuinely new, such as fresh information, analysis or a better storyline | Original |
| Watching along, reacting with facial expressions, stitching clips together or narrating what is already on screen, with nothing added | Unoriginal, likely deprioritized |
| Re-uploading a post you had no part in creating | Unoriginal |
| Minor edits to someone else’s post, like adding borders or captions or changing the speed | Unoriginal |
Unoriginal content gets less reach in Feed and Reels. Creators who keep posting mostly unoriginal content can be marked non-recommendable and demonetized. If you think a decision is wrong, Meta lets you appeal.
Other mistakes to avoid:
- Unlicensed music. Meta says unauthorized music in commercial content may be blocked, muted or removed.
- Breaking the monetization policies. Violations can affect your ability to earn even after you are approved.
- Paying for “monetization services” or trusting DMs. Invitations come only from Meta’s own channels.
- Judging success by total views. Qualified views and watch time decide what you earn.
Frequently asked questions
How do I earn money from Facebook Reels (Facebook Reels se paise kaise kamaye)?
Through Facebook Content Monetization, which is invite-only as of November 2026. Send the interest form from your dashboard’s Monetization tab, keep posting original Reels, and use Stars or brand deals while you wait.
How many followers do you need to monetize Facebook Reels?
Meta publishes no follower minimum for Content Monetization. Facebook Stars is a separate tool with its own eligibility rules, which you can check in your dashboard.
Is Facebook Content Monetization open to everyone?
No. Meta says it is invite-only and sends invitations periodically to eligible creators. You can only send an interest form.
How much does Facebook pay per 1,000 Reels views in India?
There is no fixed rate. Estimates online conflict, and your payout depends on qualified views, viewer location and watch time. Check the Earnings Rate in your own insights.
Is the Reels Play Bonus still available?
No. SocialBee reports that Meta ended it in 2023. Guides that mention it describe an old system.
Can I post other people’s videos and still earn?
Only if you add something genuinely new. Reposting, or making minor edits like captions, borders or speed changes, counts as unoriginal and can cost you reach and monetization.
How do I know an invitation is real?
Meta says real invitations arrive through the Facebook app, email, Meta Business Suite or your professional dashboard. Ignore DMs and links that promise an invite.
Can Facebook remove monetization after I am approved?
Yes. Policy violations and mostly unoriginal content can affect your ability to earn.
Conclusion and sources
Facebook Reels can pay, but not on a schedule you control. Content Monetization is invite-only, there is no fixed rate, and originality decides whether you stay in. Set up a Page or professional profile, post original Reels you make yourself, send the interest form and wait for an invitation from Meta’s own channels. Use Stars, brand deals and affiliate links in the meantime, and check your Earnings Rate once you are in. Meta changes these rules often, so check your dashboard every month.
